Before starting a course of Tramadol treatment there are certain points you should discuss with your doctor in order to make the course as effective as possible.

• liver or kidney disorders
• stomach diseases
• clinical depression or mental disorders

Tramadol is known to pose danger for the developing fetus sometimes resulting in fatal consequences so it should not be used by pregnant women or those who are expecting to become pregnant. Tramadol may pass with breast milk to the newborn and affect its development. So make sure to consult with your doctor about pregnancy and breastfeeding when discussing the treatment. There's no sufficient information on the effects of Tramadol in children under the age of 18 years old so you should consult with your doctor about that before giving the medication to a minor.

Ask your doctor about the effects of Tramadol on attention and thinking. Sometimes Tramadol is known to impair perception therefore you should be very cautious or even avoid performing tasks that require awareness and concentration. It is highly recommended to learn how Tramadol affects your attention before operating any machinery, driving or performing complex mental tasks.

Do not consume alcohol or recreational drugs while taking Tramadol. These substances will increase the probability of developing negative side effects of the drug and may even alter the mechanism of its action. Therefore you should avoid taking any mind-altering drugs and alcohol during the treatment in order to avoid unpleasant and even harmful effects on your health.
